Parish Annual Accounts Report July 2011 Annual Accounts Report Planned Giving Update April 2011 How much does a creme egg cost? Each year I am surprised at the different prices
these can be bought for, depending on whether they are bought individually,
in boxes of six or a dozen. So far, the cheapest is just under 26p per egg
and the most expensive is nearly 64p per egg. Most of us would think of
these as small sums which could be easily found. As many of you know, St Peter’s can claim back some
tax on donations made. This is possible if the giver is a UK tax payer and
if they have filled in a Gift Aid Declaration. From April 5th 2011 the amount we can claim back is changing to 25p in every £1.00. For comparison, that £14,000 would only be £12,500. This reduction is nearly one week’s income for our church. The good news is that we can do something about this. This is where the eggs come in. If you currently
donate £10.00, an extra 26p will keep your donation and the gift aid we can
claim back on it at the same level. If you currently donate £25.00 an extra
64p will do the same.
Are you currently a UK tax payer?
If you are, please make sure that your donations are
Gift Aided. Remember, if you pay income tax at the higher rate,
you can claim back the additional tax on your donation through your annual
tax return.
