New recruits are regularly trained and are important to the continuing activity of the tower. If you are a ringer, you will be made very welcome at any time.

The Choir of St Peter’s Church, South Weald

The choir’s job is to lead and enhance the worship of the whole congregation of the church during services. We do this by leading the singing of the hymns and other sung parts of the service, and also by singing an anthem each week.
The choir sings at two services on a Sunday: the Family Communion service at 9.45am and Evensong at 6.30pm (4.30pm during the period of GMT). All choristers sing at the morning service. Those who wish to do so also sing at Evensong. We also sing for a few extra services a year.

As well as the regular services, the choir takes part in occasional events. We sing each year in the High Street at Christmas Magic, and we have sung Choral Evensong in Chelmsford Cathedral. Each Christmas we go carol singing in the traditional way around the parish and around the village.

The choir has just over 30 singers, spanning an age range from 7 to 87! The children are a vitally important part of the choir. They take full part in the Sunday morning service and receive musical training towards the Voice for Life award scheme. Each summer they go on an outing to the seaside, which is greatly enjoyed by all concerned.
We practise once a week on Friday evenings: the children practise from 6.15pm to 8pm, and the adults practise from 7.30pm to 9pm.

New recruits are always very welcome
