I have over £3k pledged and have now completed the "Lent leg" of the challenge - pledgers are being hunted down - any more new "one year" pledges very welcome.

It's true. I am planning to give up smoking on "Ash" Wednesday - February 21st 2007. The main reason is that I am trying to raise £5,000 for my local church, which is in the middle of an Appeal to raise £400,000 to extend our facilities for local community use. I only launched this element last week and already over £2,000 has been pledged.

We hope that, amongst other things it will link to our church school to provide Extended School facilities from 4pm to 6pm.

We have already raised over £150,000 from our own efforts and will soon be going out to businesses and charities. However, the Appeal provides a superb opportunity for me to do something really worthwhile, knowing that if I start again, it will cost the church whatever is raised.
